Anthropic's Amodei meets Wiles and Bessent at the White House over Mythos access and Pentagon standoff

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei met White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in talks described as 'productive and constructive.' The meeting centers on resolving a standoff that began when the Pentagon blacklisted Anthropic after it refused to grant unfettered military access to its AI models. The dispute intensified after Anthropic released Mythos, a frontier AI model capable of identifying thousands of zero-day vulnerabilities across major operating systems and browsers, with an 83%+ success rate on exploit development. Rather than releasing Mythos publicly, Anthropic created Project Glasswing, a controlled access program for ~40 vetted organizations. A potential compromise would route Mythos access through civilian agencies while excluding the Pentagon, and would narrow or withdraw the supply-chain risk designation. Geopolitical pressure is mounting as UK banks and allies may gain access before the US government does.
