Anthropic launches a Claude AI agent that lives in Chrome

Anthropic has launched Claude for Chrome, a browser-based AI agent that can view and interact with web pages through a Chrome extension. Currently available to 1,000 Max plan subscribers ($100-200/month), the agent operates in a sidebar and can perform tasks on behalf of users. This launch intensifies competition in the AI browser space, with Perplexity's Comet browser and OpenAI's rumored browser also vying for market position. Anthropic has implemented safety measures to address prompt injection vulnerabilities, reducing attack success rates from 23.6% to 11.2%, while blocking access to financial, adult, and pirated content by default.
