Ladybird is an independent, open-source web browser developed from scratch, initially as part of the SerenityOS project. It supports multiple platforms including Linux and macOS. A new non-profit, the Ladybird Browser Initiative, has been formed to support its development through sponsorships and donations, without pursuing corporate revenue. <p>Great to such initiatives. The browser market is consolidating around the Chromium engine, which hurts standardization. We’ve been there with IE5 (😰).
New browser engines, if they become popular, will force web developers to adhere to proper web standards, which will benefit the eco-system in general.
