SkillsJars is a new project that packages AI agent skills (a standard introduced by Anthropic in January for enriching LLM knowledge) into JAR files and publishes them to Maven Central. This lets Java developers add agent skills as standard versioned Maven/Gradle dependencies. A Maven plugin extracts skills from JARs to the file system for use with AI code assistants like Cursor or Claude Code. Spring AI integration is also supported via the spring-ai-agent-utils community project, enabling custom Spring AI agents to load skills directly from the classpath. The project addresses discoverability, versioning, and security scanning gaps in the growing ecosystem of 73,000+ agent skills. Security scanning for prompt injection is flagged as a near-term priority.
