Microsoft has released DSC v3.2.0 as generally available. Key additions include new built-in Windows resources for managing services, firewall rules, optional features, and SSH server configuration. An experimental Bicep integration via gRPC allows Bicep to orchestrate DSC resources directly without going through ARM. The release also adds --what-if support for individual resources, version pinning for both DSC itself and resource instances, richer expression language with lambda/map/filter functions, new extension capabilities for importing configurations and retrieving secrets, and an experimental PowerShell discovery extension. Adapter improvements include automatic conversion of PowerShell streams to DSC traces and credential-passing fixes.
