Interop 2026 launches with collaboration between major browser vendors (Apple, Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, and Igalia) to improve cross-browser compatibility. The initiative includes 20 focus areas—15 new and 5 carryovers—covering features like anchor positioning, advanced attr(), container style queries, scroll-driven animations, view transitions, WebTransport, and JSPI for WebAssembly. Safari has already shipped many included features like contrast-color(), media pseudo-classes, and scoped custom element registries. The project uses Web Platform Tests to measure interoperability and ensure features align with web standards, making web development more consistent and reliable across browsers.
