Google has officially declared Jetpack Compose the standard for Android UI development under a 'Compose First' strategy. All new APIs, libraries, tools, and guidance will be provided exclusively for Compose going forward. The legacy View system (android.widget components) is now in maintenance mode — it will continue to receive critical bug fixes but no new features, with no plans for deprecation or removal.
