Google is launching a new suite of tools for agentic Android development outside of Android Studio: Android CLI, Android Skills, and the Android Knowledge Base. The Android CLI provides terminal commands for SDK management, project creation, emulator control, and deployment, reportedly reducing LLM token usage by 70% and completing tasks 3x faster than standard toolsets. Android Skills are modular markdown-based instruction sets (SKILL.md files) that ground LLMs in official Android best practices for tasks like Navigation 3 setup, edge-to-edge support, and AGP 9 migrations. The Android Knowledge Base lets agents fetch up-to-date documentation from Android, Firebase, and Kotlin docs. All tools are designed to work with any AI agent (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, etc.) and integrate smoothly with Android Studio for more advanced development.
