Amazon has announced plans to discontinue its Appstore support on Android devices starting August 20, 2025. From that date, users will no longer have access to the Appstore on their Android devices. However, the Appstore will continue to function on Amazon’s own devices, such as Fire TV and Fire Tablet.
Developers will also be affected by this change, as they will no longer be able to submit new apps to the store. For users, any apps downloaded from the Amazon Appstore on Android devices may cease to function after the termination date due to the lack of updates.
In addition to the Appstore discontinuation, the Amazon Coins program will also be coming to an end. The purchases for Amazon Coins will cease on February 20, 2025, and users will be able to receive refunds for any unspent coins after the Appstore support ends on August 20, 2025.
While this shift marks a significant change for Android users, Amazon ensures that the Appstore will remain fully functional for those using its proprietary devices.
