Amazon's CTO, Werner Vogels, built an AI-powered meeting-summarizing app called Distill. The app transcribes and summarizes conference calls, generating a summary and a list of to-do items. Distill relies on paid Amazon products and services for its computational heavy lifting. Vogels created Distill as a hobbyist programming project and is currently working on porting its code from Python to Rust. The app allows users to select different AI models for meeting summarization. Vogels acknowledges that AI is not perfect and that manual adjustment may be required for some summaries. However, he believes that the app still speeds up processes and emphasizes the importance of critical thinking in the summarization process.

This article is full of passive-agressive comments and brings nothing constructive to the table.
Also, the author keeps criticizing the fact that Vogels had the time to develop this project while being the CTO of Amazon. What the heck ? So his entire technical life is supposed to be centered around Amazon ? It’s true that his project is based around Amazon’s platform, but it’s still open-source.
Frankly, this article is just an outpour of bad faith and agressivity from the author, for absolutely no reason other than the fact that Vogel’s apparently not supposed to do whatever he wants.
