Amazon RDS now supports IPv6 for VPC endpoints of RDS Service APIs, enabling dual-stack connectivity for accessing RDS APIs directly within VPCs without internet traversal. This expands address space beyond IPv4 limitations, allows contiguous IP ranges for microservices, and enables gradual migration from IPv4 to IPv6. The feature is available in all commercial AWS regions and AWS GovCloud regions.
