Amazon RDS for SQL Server now supports cross-region read replicas in 16 additional AWS Regions, including locations in Africa, Asia Pacific, Canada, Europe, Israel, Mexico, and the Middle East. This feature allows customers to deploy read-only database replicas closer to users in different regions, scale read workloads, and implement disaster recovery strategies by promoting replicas to standalone databases. Customers can configure up to fifteen read replicas across same or different regions from the primary database instance.
