Amazon Kinesis Data Streams has increased the default shard limits from 500 to 20,000 per AWS account in major regions, significantly boosting data streaming capacity. Users can monitor their shard utilization via the AWS Service Quotas console and can request further increases if needed. The new limits allow for improved real-time data processing capabilities, providing up to 10 GB/sec ingress and 20 GB/sec egress throughput per account.
