AWS announces general availability of EC2 C8id, M8id, and R8id instances featuring up to 22.8TB of local NVMe storage. These eighth-generation instances offer 3x more vCPUs, memory, and local storage compared to sixth-generation instances, with up to 384 vCPUs and 3TiB of memory in the largest 96xlarge size. They deliver up to 43% higher compute performance, 3.3x more memory bandwidth, and 46% better I/O performance for database workloads. The instances are powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors with 3.9 GHz turbo frequency and include bare metal configurations. Available in select US regions and Europe (Frankfurt) for R8id, with support for On-Demand, Spot, Savings Plans, and Dedicated purchasing options.
