Amazon DocumentDB now supports in-place major version upgrades (MVU) from version 5.0 to 8.0, eliminating the need for new clusters, endpoint changes, or index rebuilds. The upgrade is accessible via the AWS Console, SDK, or CLI. Version 8.0 brings up to 7x lower query latency, up to 5x better storage compression, collation, views, new aggregation stages, enhanced text search with text index v2, and vector index builds up to 30x faster. The feature is available at no additional cost in all AWS regions where DocumentDB 8.0 is supported.
