Amazon DocumentDB now supports cluster authentication using AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) users and roles ARNs. This feature allows applications on AWS EC2, Lambda, ECS, or EKS to authenticate without managing passwords, using IAM roles instead. Both new and existing clusters can use IAM for authentication alongside traditional password-based methods, provided they are MongoDB 5.0+ compatible. This is available in Amazon DocumentDB instance-based 5.0 clusters across all supported regions.
