Amazon Bedrock now supports server-side tool execution via AgentCore Gateway integration with the Responses API. Developers can specify an AgentCore Gateway ARN as a tool connector, and Bedrock automatically handles tool discovery, model-driven selection, execution, and result injection within a single API call. This removes the need for client-side orchestration loops, reducing complexity and latency in agentic workflows. Tools are defined using the MCP server connector type, multiple tool calls per conversation turn are supported, and results are streamed in real time. The feature is generally available in all regions where both the Responses API and AgentCore Gateway are supported.
