Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Runtime has added support for stateful Model Context Protocol (MCP) server features. Developers can now build MCP servers that support elicitation (server-initiated multi-turn conversations to gather user input), sampling (requesting LLM-generated content from clients), and progress notifications for long-running operations. Each stateful session runs in a dedicated microVM with isolated resources, maintaining context via an Mcp-Session-Id header. These features enable complex interactive agent workflows beyond simple request-response patterns and are available across 14 AWS regions.
