One solid (pun intended) alternative to React, for web development

React is the highest JavaScript library in awareness and usage according to State of JS 2021. This massive adoption has created job openings on the framework and kept its developers in high demand. But even with its popularity, React has a lot of competition as new JavaScript frameworks are being built every day that try to be more efficient and improve front-end development.

Alternatives to React: Solid JS

Great article! For fellow developers on the wild-west landscape of front-end frameworks, who are on the edge that FOMO will take over you, just relax!
If we check out the <a href="https://www.npmtrends.com/react-vs-solid-js" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">trends</a> of the two framework, we will see that SolidJS is still in a ‘beta’ phase? As said by the article, it was created more than 5 years ago. Speed and size matter a lot, but what will make frameworks stand out in my opinion is:

<li>Community</li>
<li>Learning path, time, effort</li>
<li>Can I run my whole business’ frontend on top of it?</li>
<li>Is there anyone out there to hire if I want to scale up the dev-team?</li>
</ol>
These new frameworks are sooo far away from this. And believe me, you will not win anything with that ~30kB difference in the core bundle size if you import bootstrap.min.css for ~500 kB :D
But once again, great article! I just want to share my opinion about these ‘alternatives’ that emerge all the time, week by week, year by year. JS/TS is here to stay, invest in that.

I think I wanna study Solid.js after reading your article.

Really what I think it’s too early to compare React and Solid, because Solid is on early stages of lifetime. There is a statistical 10-years enterprise rule - it takes ten years for technology to become used by big companies and Angular, React and Vue are on this stage.
So we will see how the fronted world will change - I really believe in compiled solutions like Svelte and Solid.
And one thing I don’t like about Solid is that syntax is too close to React, so I see a lot of discussions trying to kinda map React syntax and behaviour to Solid code
