Lisbon-based alternative app store Aptoide has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google in a San Francisco federal court, alleging the company maintains an anticompetitive chokehold over third-party app stores. Aptoide is seeking an injunction and unspecified damages. The lawsuit follows a 2014 EU complaint by Aptoide against Google, and comes shortly after Google resolved a similar dispute with Epic Games by reducing Play Store commission rates to 20% and announcing plans to support sideloading of third-party app stores.
