AltStore PAL, the EU-enabled alternative iOS app store, has launched its own Mastodon server, making it the first federated app marketplace. App developers can now post updates and alerts that federate across the open social web, reaching users on Mastodon, Threads, and Bluesky. Users can sign in with Mastodon or Bluesky accounts to interact with apps and updates directly within AltStore PAL. A handful of apps including Loops, PeerTube, and iPhanpy are already participating, while larger apps await finalization of Apple's updated EU commission structure before joining.
