Intrinsic, Alphabet's robotics software company, is joining Google after operating as an independent Alphabet subsidiary since 2021. The company, which builds AI models and software to make industrial robots more accessible, will remain a distinct entity within Google but will collaborate closely with Google DeepMind and leverage Gemini AI models and cloud infrastructure. Intrinsic's history includes acquiring Vicarious and Open Robotics divisions, launching the Flowstate developer platform, releasing a Vision AI model, and forming a joint venture with Foxconn for factory automation. The move positions Google more aggressively in the physical AI space, a sector seen by industry leaders like Nvidia's Jensen Huang as the next frontier for AI monetization.
