Azul Zulu OpenJDK container images come in three main flavors depending on your use case. Community Availability (CA) images are free and available as Docker Official Images on Docker Hub, replacing the older azul/zulu-openjdk-* images being deprecated in 2026. Subscriber Availability (SA) images are commercially supported and hosted on Azul's private registry, offering CPU (security-only) and PSU (security + bug fixes) update tracks with fixed and mutable tags. For high-security environments, SA images are also available through Chainguard's registry, built on the Wolfi undistro with daily builds, SBOMs, signed images, and reproducible builds. A decision guide helps match use case to the right image source.
