Runway raised $315M at a $5.3B valuation to develop next-generation world models beyond AI video generation. The company released Gen 4.5, which outperformed Google and OpenAI on video generation benchmarks, and its first world model in December. Runway is expanding from media and entertainment into gaming, robotics, and other industries, competing with World Labs and Google DeepMind. The round was led by General Atlantic with participation from Nvidia, Adobe Ventures, and others.
