AI just started using your computer

Anthropic has given Claude the ability to control a computer directly, clicking, scrolling, opening files, and running tools on behalf of the user. The system uses a three-tier fallback approach: first trying existing connectors like Slack or Google Calendar, then browser control, and finally full screen takeover with user permission. Currently limited to Mac and behind Pro/Max paywalls in research preview, this is framed as Anthropic's direct response to the agentic AI movement. The broader question raised is who will become the operating layer between users and their machines as people shift from wanting to chat with AI to wanting AI to take action.
