Over 50% of text online is now AI! Oxford data shows AI has taken over nearly half of online publishing, up from 5% in 2020. And by next year, 9 out of 10 posts, articles, and reviews will likely be written by machines. It started with people flooding ChatGPT content on LinkedIn; thousands of posts using words the writers had never used before, and millions of — mashed into ever other sentence.

The internet starts eating its own tail, a loop of recycled, soulless text. Now, AI is moving further towards model collapse and the dead internet, where your AI is reading and commenting on my AI’s posts online.
There is Irony in this: AI may be the thing that finally forces people to crave real human voices again. But all I can think of is that scene in Star Wars: Episode II:

The trend prioritizes cost and speed over originality and truth, potentially creating a feedback loop of recycled, low-quality content that may ultimately drive demand for authentic human voices.

AI Isn’t Replacing Writers. It’s Replacing the Internet.

The data is striking, but I’m unsure about the metrics.
Do they account for texts written by humans and then edited or cleaned up by AI?
For example, this message was cleaned up by AI to proof my point, but it’s still expressing exactly what I wanted to say — I just asked ChatGPT to tidy it up.
Would this now be considered AI-generated?

What might this case be considered?
A user generates an initial simple outline to scaffold or organize their initial thoughts, then manually drafts a piece without LLM assist, perhaps deviates from the generated outline as the writing process continues.
Does the mere use of a prompt so early on and to a small degree override the human effort by fully writing a draft piece, thus classifying such as AI Generated?

In my opinion, AI is taking over statistical data that left out the truth for control. The field of computer science is getting leveled and if you don’t believe in a higher power, a higher truth, you cooked.
