Agentic AI excels at deterministic coding tasks like writing, refactoring, and validating code, but lacks the strategic context and human interpretation needed for real engineering work. AI operates within fixed parameters and cannot adapt to shifting business priorities, customer needs, or strategic realignments that arrive through fragmented human communication. AI is not coming for your developer job

How certain are you that AI has deterministic behaviour. Even if you implement rule-based agents and workflows with fixed decision paths - there is always some **Nondeterministic **behaviour thanks to context compaction, pollution or poisioning and various other factors ai agent has to be trained for. After certain point of implementing rules and decision paths, it becomes no different than typical software engineering.

For now, sure, but it will improve in that regard too eventually.
One point I don’t see mentioned often is accountability. An AI cannot take responsibility for its actions, and if your favorite AI happens to cause you millions of dollars in damages in the case of a botched deploy, the AI company most certainly won’t be liable in any way, as they always legally protect themselves from those with fair warnings.
