AI tools are fundamentally changing web development in concerning ways. While they help senior developers code faster, they're causing significant problems: Tailwind CSS saw 75% staff cuts despite 28 million weekly downloads because AI tools bypass their documentation site. LLMs predominantly generate React/TypeScript/Tailwind code, reducing ecosystem diversity and creativity. Beginners learning primarily through AI may adopt poor coding practices that slip into production. The sustainability of open-source projects is threatened as large companies benefit without supporting maintainers, potentially leading to abandoned frameworks that AI models depend on.

AI is destroying the web

We allready got an equivalent of Isaac Asimov’s Three Laws IRL for LLMs and soon they will have sortoff bodies and walk around. And looks like we are getting Cyberpunk web of rogue/outdated/malf AIs talknig to each other. I mean I’m all for it. Would be cool to take part in the endgame of hummannity run. What a run… Well, actually it 99% chore with stones and sticks. But then the things come to speed preatty fast. From atomic bomb to ~sing~slopularity under 100 years.

AI is going to destroy mostly the frontend imho. Besides e-commerce sites where you want to see the products you buy and experience that dopamin-producing event of clicking an “Add to the cart” btn, and besides news sites… everything else will be replaced by chatbots. All those blogs, articles about topics of interests, all those have been sucked up by LLMs and their content is served to us as answers to our prompts. You know, who needs a site on how to breed bees when you can ask LLM about anything related to that?
