After releasing AI Context Kit, I learned about two emerging standards that are becoming essential for durable AI collaboration: AGENTS.md for project operation and Agent Skills for workflow authority. After releasing AI Context Kit v1.2, the author migrated the project to two emerging standards: AGENTS.md as the operational entrypoint for project-level rules, and Agent Skills as the canonical workflow authority layer. The migration was executed using the OpenAI Codex macOS App as a real-world test, following a strict phased process with human review gates. The new architecture separates concerns more clearly: AGENTS.md handles operational rules, a skills/ directory owns workflow logic, and prompts become thin composition wrappers. The goal is provider-agnostic, durable AI collaboration patterns that survive tool changes and reduce context drift.
