Simon Willison has launched 'Agentic Engineering Patterns,' an evolving guide for software engineers looking to amplify their expertise using AI coding agents like Claude Code and OpenAI Codex. Unlike vibe coding (where non-programmers rely entirely on LLMs), agentic engineering is aimed at experienced developers. The first chapters cover how cheap code generation affects engineering intuitions, applying red/green TDD to improve AI agent output quality, and using AI agents to create interactive explanations that address cognitive debt. New chapters are planned at one to two per week.
