OutSystems released its 2026 State of AI Development report based on a survey of 1,900 global IT leaders. Key findings: 96% of enterprises are already using AI agents, and 97% are exploring system-wide agentic AI strategies, signaling a shift from experimentation to production. However, 94% express concern about AI sprawl increasing complexity, technical debt, and security risk. Only 12% have implemented a centralized governance platform. Adoption is most advanced in financial services and technology sectors, with 49% describing their agentic AI capabilities as advanced or expert. OutSystems also announced its Agentic Systems Engineering offering to help enterprises manage governed agentic systems.
