Agent Skills Are Becoming the Best Way to Capture Institutional Knowledge

As coding agents take on more implementation work, capturing institutional knowledge in a usable form becomes critical. Agent Skills — typically thought of as action-oriented automations — can also encode organizational standards, internal frameworks, and preferred practices so agents apply them automatically. This shifts knowledge from undocumented wikis to discoverable, consistently applied guidance. The tradeoff is short-term duplication with existing docs, but the longer-term question is whether agents will replace wikis as the primary knowledge interface for engineers.
