Max Hodak, Neuralink co-founder, is building Science Corp to develop brain-computer interfaces that go beyond current technology. The company's first product, Prima, is a retinal implant that restores reading ability to blind patients and launches in Europe next summer. Beyond this, Science Corp is working on optogenetic gene therapy and bio-hybrid neural interfaces that grow new neurons on the brain's surface. Hodak's ultimate vision involves understanding consciousness itself, potentially enabling merged minds, substrate-independent consciousness, and cognitive enhancement by the 2030s-2040s.
