Canva has made Cavalry, a popular Adobe After Effects alternative for motion graphics and 2D/3D animation, completely free following its acquisition in February 2026. Separately, Maxon has also made Autograph — a USD-based motion graphics, compositing, and VFX tool formerly developed by Left Angle — free for individual artists on commercial projects. Both tools compete with Adobe After Effects, giving motion designers and animators two new free options. Details on Cavalry's free tier are sparse, with only a tweet as the official announcement. Autograph is free for individuals but not for company use.
