Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a global mentorship program that connects beginner developers with open source organizations. Since 2005, over 1,000 organizations have mentored 21,000+ new contributors. The program helps newcomers learn open source development through guided mentorship. Applications for mentoring organizations for 2026 are open through February 3, with the program continuing to introduce fresh talent into the open source ecosystem.
