Mirror is an experimental programming language that uses AI to generate code from user-defined function signatures and examples. Developed by Austin Z. Henley of Carnegie Mellon University, Mirror leverages a large language model to convert input-output examples into JavaScript code. Currently in its early stages, Mirror is available for users to try via a GitHub-hosted playground.

A Shiny New Programming Language

This sounds quite braindead to me. So you write more “example code” than what it takes to write the function and sure you still have to check if the AI understood it right, so you have to have the knowledge of how to write the function anyways… yeah cool! - because it has “AI” in it.

This is not a programming language, the only thing it does is replace words with some pseudo code then pass that a prompt. The same or better could be accomplished by writing a smaller block of plain text.
For example:

Funny how developers ave this binary mindset. AI is cool and AI is bad.
However the future of languages is mixed. Just like you mix SQL in a string in C# and then call the Oracle.Execute() you cold put an AI query in a string and chatGPT.Execute() it.
An example could be:

errorMessage is now “Wow, great try! That was totally the password… not.”
The idea above in the article could be used by none developers to return code that could be compiled runtime similar like a regular sql command to return data.

Rather than writing the example for program and figuring out many edge cases, it is much easier to write program logic.
