A proposal to bring optional and erasable type syntax to JavaScript. Because this new syntax wouldn’t change how surrounding code runs, it would effectively act as comments. We think this has the potential to make TypeScript easier and faster to use for development at every scale. We’re hoping to bring it forward in a proposal to TC39.

A Proposal For Type Syntax in JavaScript

I was just wondering today about why this isn’t already a thing.

The idea is great, but it will take a lot of time for developers start using this - we already have a huge gap in functionality between JS and TS and we can take a look at OOP example, this direction in developing in JS (latest standard features), but it cannot be compared to what we have in TS right now - I think we will have the same situation with types.
But we need something to start from, so let’s see what comes of it

Sooner or later something like this will happen. It’s probably going to take a few years though. I’m looking forward to it 🚀
