14.ai, a Y Combinator-backed startup founded by married duo Marie Schneegans and Michael Fester, operates as an AI-native customer support agency rather than a traditional SaaS product. The company takes over entire customer service operations for startups, integrating within a day and handling tickets across email, chat, social media, voice, and more. It has raised $3M in seed funding from YC, General Catalyst, and notable founders. Unlike pure-play software vendors, 14.ai bundles software and human AI engineers together, aiming to eliminate ticketing systems, AI add-on costs, and human labor from clients' balance sheets. The startup also runs its own consumer brand, GloGlo, as a live testbed for autonomous AI support. YC partner Tom Blomfield notes AI currently handles ~60% of tasks, with humans covering the rest, and the balance is expected to shift over time.
