A teardown and review of the Creative MB-10 MIDI Blaster, a 1993 external MIDI Wavetable device. Internally it uses an 8051-based Siemens processor for MIDI handling, a Dream SAM8905 effects processor, and standard off-the-shelf analog components including a TL074CN opamp and TDA1545 DAC. The device claimed Roland MT-32 emulation and 20-note polyphony, but the Dream processor caps out at 16 notes. Compared to Roland's MT-32 and SC-55, the MB-10 offered fewer instruments and questionable value. ROM dumps are available on GitHub. Today the MB-10 is rare to find secondhand, and Roland devices remain the preferred choice for software compatibility.
