Mozilla is introducing a free built-in VPN feature in Firefox, offering 50 GB of monthly VPN browsing at no cost. The feature masks users' IP addresses by routing traffic through a proxy network, adding a privacy layer on top of HTTPS encryption. It requires no extra apps or downloads and is activated with a single click. Unlike many free VPNs, Mozilla states it does not sell browsing data or inject ads. The feature is currently rolling out in beta for desktop users in the US, UK, Germany, and France starting with Firefox 149, with broader rollout planned. For full-device protection, Mozilla's paid VPN subscription remains available.
