AI art is mostly entertainment nowadays.
If you consume/create it as art, you might get disappointment, but if it is created/consumed as entertainment, you might even get impressed.

I can’t really agree on this part. The thing is there are a lot of creators in DevArt who post images created entirely using AI with some 200–500 lines of prompt, (very detailed images though without the mistakes like broken limbs, incorrect fingers, etc.) and they have thousands of watchers (followers) or more, and they make money from those everyday (or every week).
They sell their AI generated works. If you visit their profiles, you’ll see the exclusives they sell, almost all of them are sold.
If no one likes AI art, then who is buying those? Your mom?

Spot on! This is EXACTLY what I feel when I look at AI art. There was no effort, there was no human, there was no creation. This message needs to go out to all artists out there, particularly young ones becoming jaded by AI art, AI art will have a place, but it won’t replace true are because true art isn’t just about the pixels.

I am not an artist by any means, but this post is so true! For me it is the realisation that SOMEONE created a particular art piece. Someone just like me, but way way better at this particular skill. That’s what really impresses me and makes me appreciate the art even more. I love the styrofoam analogy!

100%. It’s exactly how I feel about writing and AI. I spent years upon years honing my writing skills and making a living at it…now it’s as easy as 1. 2. AI. Loving how the article mentions Silverstein. I grew up reading Shel Silverstein, he’s intertwined with the core of my being. AI cannot produce that.
I also absolutely agree about AI art. I LOVE cartoons and actually have some great cartoonist friends. The work, the love, the time they put into their art is sacred, and it is felt through their work. Again, AI cannot produce that.
And, if we think about it this way (don’t laugh): we’re all energy, and our energy output changes with our emotions. AI cannot produce the emotions/feelings as the vibes are gone, as the article mentioned. Fantastic article.
