The tech job market transformed quietly between now and 2026 through gradual attrition rather than dramatic layoffs. Entry-level roles focused on repetitive tasks like basic development work, manual QA, SEO content optimization, and tier-one IT support largely disappeared as automation improved. Meanwhile, roles requiring systems thinking, security expertise, product judgment, data interpretation, and clarity-focused communication remained essential. The pattern is clear: jobs distant from consequences and decision-making faded, while those close to impact, risk, and accountability survived.

It Is 2026. Some Tech Jobs Quietly Disappeared.

WTF. Very decisive language and all, telling us that some jobs are completely gone and whatever, and not a single piece of data cited. I’d expect to find, somewhere in there, “this is based on X job postings/interviews with HR/some other relevant metric”.

GREAT! A bunch of low quality repetitive slop jobs are now gone! Great we can now focus in proper software development, QA, SEO and tech support!

The current situation is indeed like this. Even without AI, technology is moving towards low-code, simplification, and lower barriers to entry. Junior programmers will become more numerous and cheaper, eventually leading to a reduction in these positions. However, unfortunately, most senior engineers have grown from being junior engineers with project experience. It can be anticipated that there will be a technological gap at some point in the future.

Are we going the wrong way after all
