Python is the Swiss Army Knife of Programming Languages. It has far surpassed C, C#, Java and even Javascript in popularity. Python dominates the fields of Data Science and Machine Learning, and, to some extent, Scientific and Mathematical computing. It does have its share of disadvantages when compared to newer languages like Julia, Swift and Java.

Python is Slowly Losing its Charm

maybe the main problem, is that python is beeing used in many scenarios it isn’t supposed to.

The mentioned a bunch o limitations Python has since its inception. If they were not an obstacle so far, I doubt it will start to be. It might fade out due to other reasons but not the ones mentioned in the article.

Python may  be slow but you have to also analyze the new good bits coming in. For example the Kivy framework which makes cross platform development faster and easier with its easy ass syntax hence beating deadlines and so on. Its ever expanding packages that have extensions in themselves. Python itself is evolving and many new functionalities are being added. It being open source means that the developer community just has to be focused to get it up to the task. To me, I believe Python is just on the way to even becoming better than before.
It will take time to get a good competitor. Its ability to integrate with even other languages makes it a catch for more developers.

I’m half decent at Python, but I dread every time I have to bust it out to do simple things, especially in vs code. Intellisense and typings are non-existent/problematic, and dealing with virtual environments and multiple versions is so painful.
