Passion isn’t scalable, systems are. Good teams are built by enabling competence and ownership, not expecting intrinsic motivation from everyone.

I disagree. Now is the time to start building your own ideas, if you are truly passionate. Unless you are not passionate, in which case it has always been a mainstream job. You can’t have ideas born without passion. The passionate will always build. The rest will just help.

Software Engineer/Architect? There’s a special passion involved with doing this, and doing it well. You need to “want” to do it, to sit in that seat…
Being a software developer does not make one a software architect/engineer…
