On February 24th, India issued an ISP-level block on Supabase under Section 69A of the IT Act, with no stated reason. The ban is partial — affecting some ISPs like Jio Fibre but not others like Airtel — making the service unreliable rather than fully inaccessible. The block targets the *.supabase.co domain over HTTP/HTTPS, breaking apps that use the Supabase Client SDK directly on the frontend. A workaround called JioBase was created by an Indian developer: a reverse proxy that intercepts requests from affected users and forwards them to Supabase servers, requiring only minor changes to existing applications.
