This isn’t totally about AI. It’s about technical writing in the age of AI. I have some thoughts on this and I hope it’s helpful to you humans reading.

Technical Writing in the AI Age

I recently, and very surprisingly, had an essay go viral (<a href="https://app.daily.dev/posts/agentic-coding-is-a-trap-recently-featured-on-theo-gg-hackernews-fireship--h9ys4rtgp" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">Agentic Coding is a Trap</a>) and it coincided with my very passive promotion of a course focused solely on debugging and troubleshooting, which I feel is an evergreen skill. I was very encouraged by the amount of people who signed up for the course waiting list, even though it wasn’t promoted in the article at all.
While this is a subtle shameless plug, I also wanted to say it because it proves that there is still an audience that wants to learn from other humans. Is it as big as it was? No, but there’s a lot of reasons for that and its not just AI-related (2020 through 2023 was a COVID-fueled aberration that screwed everyone’s statistics up).
I truly feel there is a pendulum swing and this is a fad. We tend to abuse the tools before we realize the proper way to use the tools, so I am betting this is a blip on the radar for the e-learning industry as a whole.
