I’d say the most important reason is actually missing: While chrome accounts for only 64% of overall browser usage, chromium represents almost 75% of all browser engines (almost 90% of desktop browser engines!!)!
Webkit is a notoriously weaker option as Apple takes advantage of a stripped version of a rendering engine to boost device battery life and reliability.
That means that there is only one real other competitor for Google which is mozilla’s gecko engine. Without it google pretty much has a monopoly over web standards. That is a very dangerous position for a company that removed “don’t be evil” from its code of conduct.
Regardless of what one thinks of Google competition is always good, specially when developing standards that are one of the pillars of modern society.
I wish more people would realise this but I think that web developers have a responsibility to be advocates for a healthy and prosperous internet. It’s not only about choosing which browser we use but also teaching other around us about the importance of an open internet and the importance of healthy competition. Specially in the day and age of data commoditization and the risks it represents for societies and our planet.

I’m using Fennec, which is a fork of Firefox for Android, that lets you install not only the ‘curated’ extensions, but any that you choose, via addon collections. You just have to create a firefox account, and create a collection, and add the desired addons to it.
Also, there are many annoying aspects of Chrome. What made me finally switch to Firefox, was the annoying popup on websites that asked if you wanted to log in to the site via your Google account.
