Someone reverse-engineered Claude’s Generative UI and open sourced it (#1 on the list). That got me curious enough to go looking for what else is out there.
Ended up with a short list of projects I think are actually worth your time. All free &amp; open source.

1. Pi Generative UI
The one from the intro. Reverse-engineered Claude’s GenUI for <code>pi</code>, a macOS terminal agent.
Native Swift window, widgets streaming in under 50ms. No Electron, just a tiny Swift binary wrapping WKWebView.

2. OpenGenerativeUI
Ask the agent to visualize anything, it picks the right format (chart, diagram, simulation) and streams it as live HTML inside a sandboxed iframe.
Algorithm viz like binary search and BFS vs DFS, 3D WebGL animations, interactive simulations, math plotters. LangGraph Deep Agents controls the decision.

3. Shadify
Describe a UI in plain language, get real ShadCN components back, streamed live. Export as clean code when it looks right.
Can search the web for context (such as recreate Linear’s pricing table by reading the actual page).

4. Open MCP Apps Builder
Describe what you want, a Mastra agent spins up a full MCP App in an E2B sandbox.
You can also connect any existing MCP server by URL and test its tools directly from the sidebar.

5. Excalidraw Studio
Describe anything, get a live editable diagram in chat. Open it as a full local Excalidraw canvas, edit by hand, bring it back to chat and keep editing with AI.
The chat-to-canvas-to-chat loop makes this one different. Saves diagrams to disk by default and supports 5 diagram modes.

6. Voice Agent Generative UI
Extends the ElevenLabs widget so the agent can pop a real form mid-call. User fills it in, validated data goes straight back to the agent.
Supports text, email, number, date, select, textarea, all with real-time validation.

7. Hacker News Digest

8. Generative UI MCP
Design guidelines loaded on-demand via MCP. A ~300-token system prompt covers the basics, and the model calls <code>load_ui_guidelines</code> for more when it actually needs them.
