Craft CMS announces a major framework migration to Laravel for version 6, expected in Q3-Q4 2026. Unlike their previous Yii 2 transition, this will be a strict port with minimal refactoring, including a Yii 2 adapter package for backward compatibility. Craft 6 will introduce content releases, scheduled drafts, content importing, approval workflows, edit page commenting, and element activity logs. The new version features a redesigned UI with dark mode, mobile support, and WCAG 2.2-compliant components built with the Lion framework. Craft 5 becomes an LTS release with five years of support after Craft 6's GA release.
