A 2026 survey by Azul reveals that 62% of enterprises now use Java for AI applications, up from 50% last year. While Python dominates AI prototyping, Java is becoming the preferred language for running production AI workloads due to its scalability, stability, and security. The survey shows 31% of respondents have AI functionality in over half their Java applications, supported by mature libraries like Java-ML, Deep Java Library, and Spring AI. Key trends include migration from Oracle Java to OpenJDK, performance-driven cloud cost optimization, and widespread adoption of AI code-generation tools.
